Housekeeping Custodial position for pediatric children's hospital available on the evening shift position working 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Assignments would primarily be working in the Main Building and School Building.
Requirements:
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Knowledge of various cleaning methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work.
- Knowledge of proper procedures for disposing of waste, including medically contaminated sharps and/or medically soiled and contaminated dressings and supplies.
- Knowledge of chemical product safety.
- Skill is required to operate custodial equipment.
- Requirements are 6 (six) months experience in building or institutional custodial work or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Responsibilities:Under direction of the Supervisor, checks in at school daily, cleans and disinfects desks and surrounding furnishing in the school as needed. Follows guidelines for floor care and maintenance. Sweep and mop all floors in the school building daily according to cleaning protocol. School lunch program set-up to include setting up and taking down of tables and chairs, cleaning, disinfecting of tables and chairs. Sweeping and mopping of multipurpose room daily.
Under direction of the Supervisor, detailed cleaning of restrooms disinfecting all areas, including walls, baseboards, and shower curtains daily and as necessary. Cleans interior walls and windows of main building or school weekly and as necessary. Dusts all furniture and vertical fixtures twice weekly. Cleans vents weekly. Sweeps the outside porch area of the main building and school as needed.
Inspect the surrounding ground areas of the homes and school for debris and trash. Ensures outdoor area outside of each group home i.e., furniture, fixtures are kept neat and tidy. Picks up and places all trash in outside receptacles. Empties trash at designated times. Disinfects receptacles daily when trash is removed. Empties the large outside trash receptacles daily. Empties regulated waste and other potentially infectious materials in appropriate containers according to Infection Control Policy # 8040.32.
Supplies restrooms and work areas with soap and paper goods daily or as needed in the main buildings and school. Check supplies inventory weekly and submits request form to the Material Management Specialist of what is needed to maintain appropriate stock in assigned house(s). Report excessive waste or discrepancies to supervisor
Meets all agency required in-service education requirements as outlined in agency and departmental policy and procedure. Be familiar with the use, handling, and storage of chemicals used in cleaning (MSDS). Attend all departmental meetings and participate efforts to improve services.
Practice safe work methods and proper body mechanics while performing job duties and obtains assistance for lifting over 40 pounds. Uses appropriate personal protective equipment. Be familiar with equipment used in the cleaning process and proper care of the equipment. Maintains physical control of cleaning equipment within work site at all times or stores in a locked closet. Report defective equipment or potentially unsafe supplies or equipment to supervisor.
Assist with the evacuations as needed and be familiar with the hospitals Life Safety Codes as they relate to maintaining free and accessible areas for evacuation.
