Description:

Mukuru is on the lookout for a People Business Partner to join our team. The main purpose of this role is to partner with leadership to develop and implement the HR value chain that enables business objectives and goals, and to operationally execute on transformational initiatives. The role also involves providing comprehensive, proactive, and integrated people advisory and generalist services to the business, serving as a business-people partner to leaders, employee champion, and change agent.

Duties and Responsibilities (Includes but is not limited to):

Business Partnering

  • Engage and partner with the business to understand their needs, developing and implementing integrated people plans and HR solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to optimise people initiatives.
  • Partner across HC teams to deliver effective HC solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Manage organisational design, effectiveness, employee engagement, and retention in partnership with OE CoE.
  • Drive the implementation of HC practices and educate employees and managers on these practices.
  • Measure employee engagement and facilitate action plans to improve workplace culture.
  • Coach and support managers on leadership activities and change programmes.
  • Partner with LE CoE to identify training initiatives and manage development programmes.
  • Influence business decisions to ensure effective management of employees.
  • Guide on restructuring, organisational change, and transition management.
  • Provide leadership and advice on workforce planning, succession, onboarding, and performance enablement.
  • Utilise trends and metrics to develop HC solutions addressing business challenges.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and ensure compliance and risk mitigation.

Employee Attraction, Selection, and Acquisition

  • Develop job profiles, ensure correct grading and benchmarking.
  • Ensure recruitment processes are followed and partner with Talent Acquisition.
  • Ensure selection aligns with culture and role fit.
  • Maintain updated organisation structures and onboarding processes.

Remuneration and Benefits

  • Facilitate discussions on remuneration principles.
  • Ensure fair and responsible use of performance information for rewards.
  • Benchmark roles and promote a culture of recognition.

Employee Relations and Engagement

  • Act as a trusted advisor on employee relations issues.
  • Assist with disciplinary issues, hearings, and procedural fairness.
  • Monitor trends and provide corrective actions where necessary.
  • Manage organisational restructures and exit processes.
  • Partner on occupational health, safety, and injury management.

Performance Management and Career Development

  • Implement performance processes and provide coaching to managers.
  • Analyse and report on performance data.
  • Drive succession planning and career development discussions.

Work Climate and Culture

  • Engage with staff to address engagement barriers.
  • Partner on initiatives to improve culture and climate.
  • Drive organisational surveys and feedback implementation.

Off-boarding and Exit Management

  • Partner on exit processes, conduct exit interviews, and support management during terminations.

Development and Learning Enablement

  • Partner with L&D CoE on training plans and skills development.
  • Manage succession and development initiatives.

HC Projects and Teamwork

  • Deliver on HC projects within timeframes and communicate effectively.
  • Manage own priorities and collaborate within the team.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or Psychology.
  • 3-5 years in a generalist HC role, with experience in financial services or fintech.
  • Proven HC business partnering and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of SA employment law and some EMEA employment law.

  • Deep knowledge of the HR value chain.
  • Strong relationship-building, resilience, and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to lead change and demonstrate commercial acumen.
