Republican Jobs is overseeing this confidential executive search.


An agency based in Oklahoma City is seeking a General Counsel to lead its legal department and provide strategic guidance on all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters. This is a mission-critical role that advises senior leadership on high-stakes decisions, litigation strategy, contract negotiation, and evolving state and federal legal frameworks.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on agency operations, contracts, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead and manage the internal legal team, overseeing workflow and case assignments.
  • Coordinate litigation strategy and interface with outside counsel as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, administrative rules, and internal policies.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, MOUs, and formal legal documents.
  • Monitor legislation and provide impact analysis on agency operations.
  • Conduct internal legal trainings and policy briefings for executive and program staff.


Requirements:

  • J.D. and active license to practice law; must pass background check.
  • At least 10 years of experience in legal, regulatory, or compliance roles.
  • Proven ability to manage legal staff and oversee internal legal operations.
  • Strong litigation experience and skilled in contract negotiation and drafting.
  • Extensive knowledge of administrative law, government operations, and public policy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a high-pressure decision-making track record.


Salary: $120,000–$140,000 DOE + full benefits package.
