Haskell's Design & Consulting Team unites architecture, engineering, and consulting professionals from across industries and geographies. Our diverse team serves clients with multiple project delivery methods including design-build, engineer-procure-construct, fee-for-service, or consulting services. We work in markets such as food and beverage, consumer products, aviation and aerospace, civil infrastructure, healthcare, and Federal Government projects. As a team member, you'll work on impactful projects that challenge your creativity, innovation, and expand your skills.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Application of Knowledge
    • Direct and be accountable for all aspects of the design effort, including conformance with project criteria.
    • Coordinate among disciplines and ensure conformance to standards for design documents.
  2. Client Management
    • Manage client criteria acquisition, communication, and relationship.
    • Operate as the primary client interface during design.
    • Document client meetings and understand client needs for effective project delivery.
  3. Construction Support
    • Monitor design team responses, assist in prioritizing responses, and track costs and schedules.
    • Supervise or participate in installations and start-up as needed.
  4. Change Management
    • Manage design scope changes and document all scope modifications.
  5. Financial Management
    • Develop and oversee design budgets and fees.
    • Monitor project financial performance and ensure invoicing compliance.
    • Manage outside consultants and monitor project cash flow.
  6. Scheduling
    • Coordinate staff allocation and develop design schedules.
    • Ensure schedule compliance and resolve conflicts.
  7. Strategy
    • Develop and execute proposal strategies and participate in marketing efforts.
    • Seek innovative design delivery methods and develop cohesive production strategies.
  8. Leadership
    • Supervise project personnel and maintain communication through regular meetings.
    • Ensure contractual requirements are met and lead project teams.
    • Participate in corporate quality programs and project closeout activities.
  9. Travel Requirements
    • Up to 30% annually, based on business needs.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture (preferred).
  • 10 years of progressive design experience, including 5 years as a lead designer and 3 years in design management.
  • Knowledge of related design disciplines and ability to coordinate activities.

Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Registered Architect (RA).
  • Experience with Department of Defense design management and government projects.
  • Experience managing large multi-user design charrettes and understanding agency requirements.
  • Preferred: DBIA AE1 (Owner Advisor) role experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Project or Primavera P6, and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, management, and leadership skills.
  • Experience in project budgeting, scheduling, proposal writing, staffing, and conflict resolution.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

Must have ambulatory skills, ability to lift 10-50 pounds, and good coordination. Must be able to sit, reach, talk, and hear frequently.
