How will you help us make an impact? We're seeking an experienced Senior Building Code Consultant reporting to CivCheck's Co-Founder and COO, this person will bridge the gap between traditional plan review and technology-driven automation. This role is central to translating complex building and zoning code requirements into CivCheck's AI platform, working closely with product and engineering teams.
You'll act as both a subject matter expert and strategic consultant, helping cities modernize their plan review processes, improve consistency, and deliver faster permitting outcomes. The ideal candidate has expertise in building code consulting, third-party plan review, or technical design (as a licensed or experienced design professional), and is fluent in applying and interpreting the ICC suite (IBC, IRC, IEBC, IFC, A117.1 etc.), NFPA, and local zoning regulations.

The base salary range for this role is expected to be between $85,000- $120,000 based on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications while considering internal pay equity and our broader pay philosophy.

Background checks - Because our customers trust us with sensitive information, we require all successful candidates to undergo comprehensive background checks before joining our team. Travel - Although we operate as a remote company, all roles are expected to participate in occasional travel for in-person company-wide or departmental meetings, typically 1-2 times per year. Additional travel requirements specific to the role, if any, will be outlined in the job description.
