Job Role: Associate General Counsel (Construction)
Location: Oklahoma City, OK

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Up to 20% of the time
Must-Haves:
• Extensive knowledge and experience in construction law from a general contractor or subcontractor perspective
• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and active good standing membership in at least one U.S. state bar
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Office
• 8+ years of legal experience, in either law firm and/or in-house with substantial experience in construction law
• Strong keyboarding skills with the ability to draft letters, contracts, and documents without the assistance of an assistant.
Nice-To-Haves
• Prior experience as in-house counsel or staff attorney
• In addition to construction law, previous practice included OSHA regulations
• Speaking experience (CLE) in construction law as lead speaker or panel attorney
• Published articles in the area of construction law
Job Description
This Associate General Counsel position handles a wide range of transactional law-related issues with a focus on construction law.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Review, draft, and negotiate various types of construction agreements, including but not limited to subcontracts (all payment types), purchases orders, sub-subcontracts, consulting agreements, equipment rental agreements, payment and performance bonds, and various waivers and releases.
• Work closely with sales team and project management teams
• Monitor legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities relating to the construction law, and provide proactive, strategic advice
• Liaison with outside law firms to meet Company goals
• Settlement of claims and disputes
• Track and keep current organized records of each contract, dispute, or claim
Secondary Duties
• Support as key member of legal team
• Filing of preliminary notices and lien notices
• Presenting complex information in a narrative or summary to executive team
• Provide backup to other attorneys on any matter in their absence
• Tasks and projects as assigned by General Counsel
Skills required
• Advanced knowledge and experience in construction law from a general contractor or subcontractor perspective
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfort interacting with various employees across the Company, including management and field employees

Education and Experience
Required:
