The Opportunity

As a dedicated Field Property Claims Adjuster, you will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex property insurance claims for our valued members. Your role involves confirming coverage, recognizing liability exposure, and negotiating fair settlements in accordance with all regulatory requirements.

This field-based position serves areas including Oklahoma City, OK, and involves both technology and desk adjusting for a streamlined claims handling process. A company vehicle will be provided for inspections within your assigned territory, with possible travel to other regions if necessary. This is an hourly, non-exempt role with opportunities for paid overtime.

What you'll do:

  • Effectively manage a caseload of complex claims, applying thorough knowledge of claims coverage and legal liabilities.
  • Collaborate with vendors and business partners to resolve intricate claims, ensuring compliance and appropriate documentation.
  • Investigate and assess claim damages through comprehensive research, identifying discrepancies and subrogation possibilities.
  • Analyze policy terms to identify coverage concerns and initiate Special Investigation Unit (SIU) referrals when appropriate.
  • Negotiate settlements within your authority, developing recommendations for amounts that exceed those limits and managing claims outcomes accurately.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date claims documentation throughout the process.
  • Leverage advanced estimating technology and virtual inspection tools to manage complex claims efficiently.
  • Support workload surges and respond to catastrophe (CAT) events as required, including on-call duties during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Independently solve complex problems, acting as a resource for less experienced colleagues.
  • Adjust claims that involve attorney interaction and navigate jurisdictional challenges.
  • Conduct in-person inspections as needed, ensuring all business risks are effectively managed in line with compliance policies.

What you have:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma required.
  • 2 years of relevant property claims adjusting experience with moderate complexity losses, including writing estimates.
  • Advanced knowledge of loss estimating using Xactimate or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of property claims contracts, case law, and state regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient analytical, prioritization, multi-tasking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel 50-75% of the year and to support CAT duty as needed.
  • Ability to secure an insurance adjuster license within 90 days and 3 attempts.

What sets you apart:

  • US military experience through service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.
  • 5 years of field experience handling high-severity losses.
  • Experience adjusting property claims using virtual technologies.
  • Knowledge of DWG, APS, and ALE adjustments.
  • Industry designations such as AINS, CPCU, AIC, SCLA.
  • Xactimate Level 1 and/or Level 2 certification.
  • Previous deployments in disaster response situations.
  • Active Adjuster License holder.
  • Reside in or can self-relocate to Oklahoma City, OK.

Physical Demand Requirements:

  • Ability to crouch, stoop, climb ladders, and traverse roofs for inspections.
  • Must meet USAA's safe driving requirements, including a valid driver's license.
  • Capacity to lift at least 35 pounds, including carrying ladders.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $69,920.00 - $133,620.00.
