General Description
The Event Setup Assistant is a part-time student role focused on preparing venues for campus events. Responsibilities include arranging chairs, tables, and staging, ensuring venues meet event requirements. Minimum Education/Experience
Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the Summer semester.
OR
Current OCCC student with a Federal Work-Study award.
Valid Oklahoma driver's license.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Basic understanding of event setups and general office tasks, including answering phones and basic computer use.
Physical ability to move and arrange furniture and equipment for events in a safe manner.
Ability to read simple drawings and plans.
Good organizational skills to help with event preparations and clean-up.
Basic problem-solving skills for handling unexpected situations during events and office tasks.
Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
Willingness to learn new tasks and adapt to different event setups.
Ability and willingness to provide outstanding customer service.
Ability to communicate clearly, politely, and respectfully when writing emails and/or speaking with customers on the phone or in person.
Able to relay information/messages with accuracy.
Able to keep a positive outlook and find ways to solve problems.
Careful and thorough in organizing things or doing tasks.
Self-directed and motivated, able to initiate tasks and work independently without constant supervision.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
1.GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Heavy work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 100 pounds of force and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently move about the various campuses.
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, faculty, staff, students, and vendors to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that frequently involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.
This position requires the person to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to move, lift, push, pull, work on, or operate equipment or furniture.
3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position's essential functions are performed indoors and outdoors and subject to extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees) and extreme hot temperatures(temperatures above 100 degrees).
This position requires the person to communicate above ambient noise levels and exchange accurate information in various situations.
Preferred Qualifications
Special event experience.
Ability to effectively use a variety of hand tools.
Ability to operate lifting and moving equipment.
Required Training
Regular employee health and safety training.
Work Hours
As arranged around the students' class schedule, in general, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional weekend work, not to exceed 25 hours per week.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)
Lead and collaboratively work with team members to complete event setups in public spaces and rooms, including arranging and dismantling furniture and equipment (such as tables, chairs, and stage components), ensuring timely and efficient organization of events.
Lead and complete post-event space resets, including dismantling or modifying setups, with a focus on ensuring that spaces are thoroughly cleaned and left organized for subsequent use.
Move, secure, and store event equipment; assist in its maintenance and organization.
Assist with other projects and duties as assigned. These may include, but are not limited to: backstage/production duties, processing ticket sales, document imaging, filing, assisting with reception desk duties, copying, faxing, sorting mail, assisting with theater events, and assisting department staff as requested.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
