General Description

This position is responsible for helping in the operation of the Student Computer Center and also the computer classrooms used for the Division of Business and Information Technology; instructs students on proper equipment operation; takes care of computers for the Center; assists students with project application assignment problems; assists with providing tools for learning for students; tutors students; answers questions; helps with tours if needed; changes ink, paper, and equipment if needed; performs programming; provides alternate learning methods for students using the Student Computer Center; and assists faculty and College employees in the usage of the Student Computer Center and computer equipped BIT divisional classrooms.

Minimum Education/Experience

Associate degree: no experience required.

Equivalency/Substitution:
Minimum 60 hours of semester credits toward a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field; no experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge:Familiarity with one or more of the following areas: C++, Java, Visual Basic, AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, 3DS Max, SolidWorks, Photoshop, Premier, After Effects, Zbrush, Unreal, Web Design, 3D Printing technology, and Laser Cutter technology.

Familiarity with Programming, Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD) Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Internet).

Skills:Using computers, peripherals, and related software.

Abilities:Self-study.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work is light work which requires the person in this position to occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

This position requires the ability to lift and carry computer and peripheral equipment.

Work is performed in a relatively safe, secure, stable, and indoor office, classroom, and lab work environment.

Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.Work is performed during afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)

Assists students: with understanding concepts needed to complete computer assignments; in improving along with course materials.

In the proper operation of the computers, printers, scanners, and various other peripherals along with other equipment.

Assists with basic computer functions such as printing, saving files, sending email, searching the internet, using learning management systems (LMS), and using a flash drive.

Maintains integrity as well as the security of hard disk files.

Ensures that copyright files are not copied and unauthorized software is not placed on the hard disks.

Performs minor divisional computer equipment maintenance; clears jammed equipment; loads paper.

Separates print job and maintains adequate Lab supplies both in reserve and in use.

Ensures that Lab users comply with the Lab and institutional operating policies and procedures.

Promotes the use of the Computer Lab and maintains quality of equipment and software.

Assists with Division computer support.

Assists Business and Information Technology faculty as required to support classroom activities and equipment.

Acts as a resource for faculty.

Cleans the Student Computer Center equipment and computer equipped IT divisional classrooms.

Properly lifts and moves computers and peripheral equipment.

Answers telephones, refers calls to appropriate parties.

Takes messages and provides information as required.

Executes various network control programs.

Refers to other parts of the College as needed

Ensures printers are properly loaded with paper and toner cartridges.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
