Coordinator of Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success

This position is responsible for providing a variety of quality support services to the Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success veterans and active duty service members from all branches of the military; for collaborating with campus and community service providers to establish referral resources; for ensuring timely certification of Veteran educational benefits and processing of government documents for students; for ensuring compliance in assessment of eligibility and compliance with related laws and regulations; for serving as a liaison and consultant among students, within the Department, among other departments, and community organizations; and for providing reports to the Veterans Administration.This appointment is contingent upon availability of grant funding. Once the funds from the grant that provide funding for this appointment are no longer available, this appointment may be terminated without cause upon written notice to the employee.

Reports To - Director of Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success

Minimum Education/Experience - Bachelors degree.Minimum three (3) years' work experience in financial aid, admissions, advising, or veterans services office in an institution of higher education.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions - PHYSICAL/MENTALDEMANDSANDWORKINGCONDITIONS:The work is sedentary work which requires the person in this position to occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Preferred Qualifications - (3) or more years' previoussupervisoryexperience in financial aid, admissions, advising, or veterans services office in an institution of higher education.Bilingual.

Required Training - Annual Campus Security Authority (CSA) Training

Work Hours - Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Evenings and weekends as required

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement) - Assist in certification process forCEVSSof VA Benefits for eligible students each semester based on enrollment status and serve as Primary School Certifying Official forOCCCVeteran ServicesAssist in monitoring benefit-eligible student enrollment changes and report changes to VA each semester.Assist in monitoring and reporting attendance data each semester to VA on students receiving failing grades.AdviseCEVSSVeterans and benefit-eligible students on VA regulations relevant to student eligibility, student rights, and responsibilities.Assist in building student records processes to include all required eligibility documents in compliance with VA regulations.Assist in representing the College in audits of veterans' student records and benefit programs and take necessary actions to correct procedures causing errors.Assist in representing the College in communication with and reporting to State Accrediting Agency for Veterans education programs and VA Regional Office.Assist in promoting Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success services through consumer information materials, Veterans Services Web page, student newspaper and other publications such as Catalog and Student Handbook.Assist with coordinating and promoting activities ofCEVSSto celebrate veterans and their service to the country. Such events may include Veterans Day, a College veterans appreciation day, and guest speaker eventsAssist in establishing and sustaining a College Veterans Advisory Committee to study veterans' issues and make recommendations to improve services atOCCCAssist in developing and periodically updating a comprehensive resource document for veteran students and help students link to these resources for assistance with unique concerns and/or problems.Assist in hiring and trainingCEVSSTemporary employees and/or Work Study students to assist in the office with a variety of tasks.Stay current with Veterans Administration regulations about management of educational benefit programs, new programs, and services.Attend state and regional veteran conferences and workshops.Serve on College committees as needed.Assist in compiling statistics for reporting and research purposes.Advise the Director ofCEVSSand/or Associate Vice President for Student Success on veterans' issues, audits, and office physical and budget needs.

Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures) - Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.Participate in all applicableOCCCemergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.This position has been identified as having significant responsibility for student and campus activities. The individual holding this position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs are required to report crimes they become aware of to the Reporting Structure at Oklahoma City Community College. AnnualCSAtraining is required for individuals holding this position.
