General Description:

The Quality Assurance Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's quality management system. This includes collaborating with the Quality team, ensuring all products and processes meet required customer, industry, and internal quality standards. The manager's key objective is to drive continuous improvement, maintain compliance with certifications such as NADCAP, AS9100, and ISO9001, and ensure product reliability and customer satisfaction.


Reports To: Accountable Manager


Essential Functions:

  1. Strategic Quality Planning: Develop, implement, and manage strategic quality plans and procedures that align with the company's goals and customer specifications.
  2. Compliance Management: Maintain and oversee compliance with all quality certifications, including NADCAP and AS9100/ISO9001. Act as the primary contact during audits, ensuring all required documentation and processes are in place.
  3. Process Improvement: Identify and analyze quality issues and trends. Facilitate root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to drive continuous improvement in processes and product quality.
  4. Customer and Supplier Interface: Serve as the main point of contact for all quality-related matters with customers and suppliers. Address and resolve customer feedback and complaints, and ensure suppliers adhere to quality standards.
  5. System Administration: Manage the quality management system, including documentation, record-keeping, and the control of non-conforming products.
  6. Resource Management: Oversee the daily workflow and schedules of the department, ensuring proper allocation of resources to meet production and quality deadlines.

  5. Organizational Skills: Superior organizational skills and attention to detail to manage complex documentation, audits, and multiple projects simultaneously.
  6. Ethical Practice: Upholds the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct in all quality decisions.
  7. Technical Proficiency: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and specialized quality management software.


Technical Training Required:


  1. Quality Management Systems: In-depth training on NADCAP, AS9100, and ISO9001 standards and auditing processes.
  2. Metallurgical and Materials Science (Preferred/Not required)
  3. Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA): Specialized training in methodologies such as the 5 Whys, Ishikawa (Fishbone) diagrams, and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to effectively identify and resolve quality issues.
  4. Statistical Process Control (SPC): Training on using statistical methods and software to monitor and control processes to ensure they operate at their full potential.
  5. Measurement and Calibration: Advanced instruction on measurement techniques and the proper use and calibration of precision instruments.
  6. Auditor Training: Certification or training to conduct internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with required standards.
  7. Quality Software Proficiency: Advanced training in quality management software (QMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for data analysis, reporting, and documentation.


Supervisory Responsibility:

Chief Inspector, Quality Inspectors, Metallurgical lab, Chemical Lab, Process Planning.


Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.


Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week.


Travel:

No travel is expected for this position.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Experience in an FAA Repair Station and knowledge of thermal spray, grinding, and plating preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in related field required with supervisory experience a plus.
  • Experience in AS9100 and NADCAP required.
