Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Engineer - Material Processes to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Oklahoma City, OK. Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
  • Applying principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
  • Working in a team environment with other engineering organization performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans.

Basic qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Program Special access within a reasonable period of time.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related engineering experience.
  • Familiar with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures, familiar with metallic materials and processes.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with working on military aircraft
  • Experience preparing and presenting oral and written reports
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science
  • Experience with material obsolescence issues and qualifying materials
  • Experience with LO materials

Primary level salary range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
