Interior Design Position

Major duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Influences design of new construction from conception through activation by in-depth knowledge of user requirements and availability of furnishings to satisfy these needs.
  • Uses sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy to resolve problems and motivates, influences, justifies, and defends matters and disputes with persons who are often skeptical and uncooperative, unreceptive, and usually unfamiliar with the scope of work.
  • Uses interpersonal skills when developing projects by being able to transform spoken or written descriptions of items, processes, and issues of concerns of staff, patients, or visitors.
  • Plans and carries out work independently, coordinates with others and resolves problems as they occur.
  • Exercises creativity and experienced judgment in extending traditional techniques or evolving new ones to solve interior design problems.
  • Develops original designs, concepts, or visual styles for publications, exhibits or presentation materials.
  • Consults, advises, plans, and designs assigned spaces in new and/or renovated construction programs beginning with the earliest drawings provided by architects, Engineers and/or contracted consultants.
  • Develops and directs planning and scheduling of short and long-range interior improvement projects.
  • Evaluates the Interior Design program to assure compliance and makes recommendations for corrections.
  • Evaluates existing furniture and equipment and makes appropriate determination of items needed for these projects.
  • Maintains the interior design files which include drawings, specifications, project information, government contracts and regulations pertaining to interior design.
  • Responsible for budgeting projects utilizing a yearly budget. This includes preparing orders for purchase, verifying receipt of orders, and coordinating and overseeing the installation.
  • Serves as Contracting Officers Representative (COR) including creating and managing purchase and installation package and reviewing submittals for compliance.
  • Responsible for analyzing and developing cost estimates to cover furnishings required for projects.
  • Performs other directly related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm
