A strong communication skill set is required for communications between staff, management and patients served. Though the days may be long and busy, they find the results to be well worth the effort.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Obtains demographic information, including insurance and running for verificationSchedules all ophthalmic surgical procedures per physician direction.Obtains referrals for procedure and required medical clearances.Explains consent forms and obtain patient signaturesCollects co-pays, and upcoming payments as necessary.Processes incoming faxes, scan documents into patient charts, and send for medical review.Sends office notes/scheduling updates to referring physiciansCommunicates frequently with clinical/optical teamsOther duties as assigned

Requirements:
Education & Experience:High School Graduate, or equivalent educationMinimum of two (2) years' of surgery scheduling or related experience, ophthalmology experience preferred.Certified Patient Service Specialist (CPSS) Certification, preferred.Core Competencies:Demonstrated effectiveness showing courtesy, diligence, integrity, and teamworkStrong interpersonal skills (effective listening, clear communication, effective customer problem resolution, warm demeanor)Ability to master ophthalmology terminologyUnderstand HIPAA and can maintain confidentialityObvious enthusiasm and interest in requiredHave an outgoing personality with professional demeanorHave a true desire to learn and the ability to think criticallyThe ability to communicate effectively to employees and patientsCan make independent and accurate decisionsHave an attitude that reflects a desire to go beyond the minimum required dutiesPIad79c4739ae6-25660-40352330
