Accounting II- Billing

Summary:

This is the journey level class in the clerical accounting series assigned to the Billing Department. Positions in this class are normally filled by advancement from level I, or when filled from the outside, require prior clerical accounting experience. Appointment to the higher class requires that the employee perform the full range of duties for the class and meet the qualification standards for the class. An Accounting Clerk II works under general supervision and, within the framework of established procedures, is expected to perform a variety of accounting duties with only occasional instruction or assistance. Willingness to travel occasionally to regional site(s) for team events, cross training, project implementation or training conferences.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collecting data and inputting the data into various databases
  • Reviewing records for accuracy
  • Updating databases with new or revised information as necessary
  • Performing regular backups of information to ensure data preservation
  • Retrieving records and electronic files from the database
  • Sorting and organizing paper records or notes after data entry
  • Updating customer database
  • Checking the data imported into the accounting system to ensure accuracy of invoices
  • Create invoices and credit memos
  • Answering questions and handling complaints from customers regarding invoices
  • Reporting billing activity to upper management
  • Providing excellent customer service and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Strongly prefer a four-year degree in accounting, finance, or business administration or another business-oriented field
  • One year of clerical accounting experience performing fiscal or statistical work in an office environment; or one year as an Accounting Clerk I with Boyett Petroleum
  • Demonstrated computer skills, especially importing to and exporting from Excel
  • Strong data entry skills and attention to detail

TESTING REQUIREMENTS:

Candidate will be required to participate in the following as a condition to hire:
