The general worker supports various skilled trades and trades involved in diverse construction projects, such as new constructions, renovations, expansions, and more. General workers employ a variety of specialized tools and equipment. Tasks may include site cleanup, material handling, loading and unloading, as well as distribution of materials and accessories, among other duties. The responsibilities of the roles depend on specific work assignments, types of projects, and construction phases.

Responsibilities:

• Supports other skilled trades by loading, unloading, and distributing materials as instructed.
• Participates in the dismantling and transportation of construction materials.
• Ensures the daily collection and disposal of waste accumulated in the workplace and its surroundings.
• Performs general cleaning tasks and waste removal for the workplace trailer.
• Cleans and maintains concrete and formwork tools.
• Operates pumps and equipment for site dewatering requirements.
• Organizes and cleans Conex containers and connection boxes daily.
• Manages door construction tasks and signage responsibilities.

Requirements:

• Demonstrates precision, thoroughness, and punctuality in job performance.
• Possesses effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to recognize common construction materials and equipment.
• Maintains punctual attendance and reliability.
• Shows willingness to learn and follows instructions diligently.
• Performs assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates positive and cooperative conduct.
• Establishes and collaborates effectively within the team environment, both internally and externally.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Preference given to candidates with apprentice, vocational, technical, or commercial training. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
• Preferably 0-2 years of commercial construction experience.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• May encounter extreme environmental conditions (heat or cold).
• Flexibility to work non-traditional hours as project demands require.
• Reliable transportation is essential.
• Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and at various depths such as trenches.
• Routine activities include standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, balancing, reaching shoulder height, pushing, pulling, and maintaining balance.
• May occasionally need to sit and view computer screen.
• Specific environmental and physical demands may vary by location and project type.
• Ensures accurate material identification and compliance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Safely and effectively operates a hoist.
• Assists with demolition operations.
• Ensures compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) regulations and meets OSHA standards.
• Complies with all safety standards established by the company (JE Dunn).
