Requisition Number: 31324CompanyWECTEC Staffing Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company LLCLocationOther, MA, US; Remote with travelAbout the RoleFire Safety Engineer – 1‑year contract assignment (W‑2). Subject matter expert on utility‑scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). Oversee safety analyses for project‑level reports, including hazard mitigation analysis (HMA), FMEA, heat flux analysis, CFD simulations, and present BESS fire safety to multiple groups.Key ResponsibilitiesReview all UL 9540a reports from cell‑, module‑, and up through unit/installation‑level, and provide direction.Offer guidance toward the fire safety system designs of BESS manufacturers and projects.Initiate and foster relationships with national, state, and local fire institutions and first responders, including Fire Marshalls, Fire Departments, and educational institutions.Standardize information around BESS fire safety systems throughout the organization, ensuring messaging in every region where our projects are deployed.Participate in task groups and technical committees for collaboration and direction of the advancement of industry codes and standards about the safety of battery energy storage systems.QualificationsBackground in fire protection engineering principles, fire dynamics, and battery technology safety.Experience with NFPA 855 (Energy Storage Systems), IFC, and UL standards.Software skills: experience with FMEA, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling, and risk assessment methodologies.Our Safety Pledge To YouIf you are as committed to your success as we are committed to your safety, then this is the position for you!
