Senior ADABAS Mainframe Systems ProgrammerRemote - United StatesPosition SummaryThe successful candidate will perform mainframe database Software upgrades coupled with administration and tuning to support our customers' Software AG ADABAS environments. The individual will need to work with vendor personnel to achieve timely solutions of database problems. The individual will be responsible for day-to-day database maintenance such as database definition changes, backups and restores, monitoring space growth, database reorganizations, creating and maintaining disaster recovery procedures and overall support of customer needs and requests. The successful candidate will be called upon to perform a variety of tasks including database optimization, database performance reviews and tuning, and new client onboarding. The individual will provide 24×7 on call support as part of a scheduled rotation with other team members. The individual will maintain documentation for all the tasks completed on a regular basis and adhere to the change management policy.Position reports to Senior Manager – Mainframe Database.What the Ideal Candidate Brings to this RoleRequired Qualifications help to assure new Associates are set up for success in their role with Ensono. Candidates that may meet some, but not all, Other Qualifications are still encouraged to apply.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree required and/or equivalent work experience.10+ years of professional experience in Software AG ADABAS/Natural and related products for administration and systems programming support.Extensive experience with the following:Best practices of Software management, maintenance, and documentationConfigure and manage Software AG ADABAS and related products such as NaturalSME in the topics of:ADABAS database administration, NATURAL Security, Fast PathDatabase DesignDefining FDT and DDMs.Performance tuningUse of ADABAS utilities such as Delta Save Facility, ADABAS Utilities Natural utilities, SMA, Program Migration tool, Review, etcKnowledge of log archive and change accumulation utilitiesKnowledge of ADARUN Parameters and Buffer pools.Knowledge of Protection logging and Command Logging.Establishing policies and procedures pertaining to database management, disaster recovery, product and database security, maintenance, and utilizationReviewing new versions of Software AG ADABAS and related products for functionality, advising how they benefit the clientManage vendors relations and quickly resolve problems and questionsApplying Licenses for SAG products and applying ZAPs and Service packs for Software AG productsCooperation with the Disaster Recovery Services, successfully execute tasks associated with any given customer's disaster recovery plans.Support planned (disaster recovery) and unplanned (emergency) database recovery activitiesTroubleshooting and solving production database issuesIdentification and resolution of performance issuesDatabase administration including administering and customizing ADABAS/NaturalDatabase design and experience with batch and online Software AG ADABAS/NaturalDatabase monitoring including space monitoring and performance monitoringMaintenance and usage of Software AG ADABAS and related products and utilitiesSoftwareAG products administrationApplying license keys to SAG productsSAG products license management at DR site & bringing up ADABAS & Natural at DR siteInstallation & upgrade of ADABASInstallation & upgrade of NaturalTRIM product upgrade & maintenanceEntireX maintenanceExperience in a large, 24×7 multi-database environments and the ability to manage competing prioritiesOther QualificationsExcellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentations)Ability to work as part of a team and assist teammates when neededDemonstrated ability to respond quickly and effectively to support requests from multiple clientsFollow ITSM change control proceduresSelf-motivated and able to work independently.Must be able to multi-task and work under short deadlines and in high pressure situations.Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.Why EnsonoEnsono is a place to make better happen – for our clients and for your career. Please note that placement in the range may vary based on numerous factors including but not limited to skills, experience, internal equity, and business needs.
