Position Overview

The Development Director leads and manages all fundraising efforts for Arts Council Oklahoma City, driving strategic initiatives to secure financial support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government entities. This role is responsible for cultivating relationships, expanding donor engagement, and ensuring sustainable revenue growth to support the organization's mission of bringing the arts and the community together.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan, including major gifts, corporate sponsorships, grants, and special events.
• Set and achieve revenue goals aligned with organizational priorities.
• Identify and pursue new funding opportunities and revenue streams.
• Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with major donors, sponsors, and community partners.
• Oversee donor communications, recognition programs, and retention strategies.
• Manage donor database and ensure accurate tracking of contributions and engagement.
• Lead grant writing and reporting processes for foundations and government funding.
• Build and maintain relationships with corporate sponsors and partners.
• Develop customized sponsorship proposals and benefits packages.
• Oversee fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives, including annual drives and special events.
• Collaborate with marketing and program teams to ensure cohesive messaging and branding.
• Supervise development staff and consultants as applicable.
• Oversee development-related budgets and vendor relationships.
• Serve as volunteer committee liaison as assigned.
• Work alongside board members in their fundraising roles, and manage the board fundraising committee.
• Serve as an ambassador for the organization in the community, representing the organization at events, meetings, and public engagements.

Education & Background

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or CFRE certification preferred.
• 4+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising or development.
• Proven track record of securing major gifts and meeting fundraising goals.
• Experience with donor management systems (CRM).

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
• Flexible availability, including readiness to work during events, lunches, evenings, and weekends.
• Minimum supervision needed; can also work as part of a team.
• Ability to be flexible and respond quickly to change.

Compensation & Benefits

• Benefits package includes health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance – at no cost to the employee.
• 401(k) retirement plan, and 14 paid holidays annually.
• 10 sick days and accrued PTO.
• Salary commensurate with experience $70,000 - $80,000
• Workshops and continuing education are encouraged and may be reimbursed with supervisor approval.
